KOSAIR HOSPITALS, Louisville, KY

Curves add interest and invitation to Mapes solid deck Superlumideck canopies in many different applications on many different building styles. These are 2 recent examples that offer a variety of potential uses. While one is on a new medical office building just outside of Louisville, KY, the other is on a new building at the New River Community College near Beckley, WV. And they would be just as attractive and inviting on an office or retail building anywhere in the country. That is what to keep in mind, the Mapes canopies are a highly versatile structures that can be designed and engineered to fit in anywhere on any building in any color you would like in any part of the country.

Each of these canopies is all rust free aluminum built with Mapes std 2 ¾ inch extruded aluminum decking setting at right angles. The same deck is used forward both forward curved canopies and upward arched canopies. Each of these canopies used an optional fascia style to add more individual interest to the canopy style. The intent for both canopies in each situation was to be the way finding icon for the main entrance location. Each is distinctly different than other possible entry locations on the buildings and immediately signals the primary entrance.

In keeping with the mindset of a children’s hospital, bright primary type colors are used on several of the building elements with a primary and calming blue color chosen for the arched entry canopy. For the new Community Technical College a more contemporary “techno-styled” canopy configuration and finish was chosen in keeping with the mindset of the campus design characteristics. In both cases, Mapes easily provided the style and finishes fitting for the building application. We can and have done much more with our many canopy configurations and finish colors available to the design professionals of today. In every case and location Mapes can provide the client with fully engineered and stamped drawings for the canopy design requests.

You can visit our website gallery for a wide variety of canopies we have built for almost any application and in almost any location and we keep adding to that gallery as time permits.
