Mapes SuperShade is a line of passive sun control products that can be used to manage the impact of solar gain on any building. The SuperShade hanger rod design allows it to be integrated seamlessly with Lumishade or Super Lumideck solid deck over doors. Pre-engineered for most wall conditions, our SuperShade sun control products can reduce solar impact and provide economical design options for any passive solar condition.

The SuperShade is constructed from high-grade, all-extruded T6-6063 aluminum, featuring .110-inch thick louver blades (or 3-inch “U” channels) and a heavy-duty .125-inch fascia. This all-aluminum design ensures the system is rust-free and lightweight (weighing approximately 5 lbs per square foot) while remaining strong enough to be integrated with Mapes solid-deck canopies like the Lumishade or Super Lumideck for a cohesive architectural look.
The system is designed for versatility with two primary support methods: hanger rods, which allow for expansive projections up to 10 feet, and cantilevered brackets, which provide a cleaner aesthetic for projections up to 5 feet. To ensure structural integrity across different environments, Mapes provides PE-stamped calculations for all 50 states, certifying that the canopy can meet specific local requirements for wind and snow loads.
Mapes offers three Standard finishes (Clear Anodized, White Baked Enamel and Bronze Baked Enamel) which include a 1-year warranty. For enhanced durability and aesthetics, Premium finishes are available in over 25 stock Kynar (70% PVDF) colors — or custom color matches — and come with a superior 10-year warranty.
It is pre-engineered for most wall conditions, including brick/block (with thru-bolts), CMU, EIFS, metal buildings and curtain walls. The wall design itself must be approved by the Engineer of Record for the job. Mapes provides generic attachment details but does not design the wall structure.
