Hardwood Artisans, a Retail Showroom Renovation
The Architects for Hardwood Artisans, a custom furniture maker in Arlington, Virginia wanted specially designed showroom front window canopies that would reflect the reputation of the company known for its high quality furniture. ARZ Architects in Gaithersburg, Maryland specified custom detailed architectural canopies from Mapes Canopies. To update the existing storefront, six Mapes overhead supported canopies were chosen with Mapes custom designed infill decorative deck shadow plates to highlight the uniqueness of the canopy project. Mapes offers a variety of decorative infill deck shadow plates for use with our canopies and can create custom designs as well or work from client requested designs.
The newly renovated showroom building is in the heart of the quaint and very popular downtown main street in the Village of Shirlington, Arlington, Virginia. It would be among many other very popular updated retail stores and restaurants in a mixed use neighborhood billed as the Shirlington Arts and Entertainment District. The owners wanted a storefront appearance in keeping with the surrounding environment and appealing to the frequent window shoppers who walked by the Hardwood Artisans showroom windows. The custom Mapes canopies carry stamped engineering calculations for the state of Virginia.
